The V70 has been referred to as the backbone of the Volvo Range in some quarters, and with foundation. Of all the vehicles sold throughout the range, the V70 has consistently outsold them all for its sheer versatility, comfort and ability to adapt itself to all situations, wether it be load lugging, or a comfortable for of transport with excellent build quality and strength. The numbers still visable on our roads of the first incarnation of the V70 speaks for itself, many are still one owner vehicle with full histories from new, and it is nothing to see mileages well
into the 200k's and beyond.The design evolved from the Peter Horbury designed Volvo 850 estate, synonymous for its British Touring Car exploits of many years ago in the hands of Rickard Rydell amongst others. It was updated into what is known as the V70 classic, and from a facelift design in the early 2000's, it has now evolved into the current design which is available in 'Business edition', SE, SE Lux and R-design versions. The latest design incorporates many design features evolved to offer better dynamics, fuel efficiency and safety to both the occupants, pedestrians and other road users
It goes without saying that comfort is provided by the industry standard seating for comfort and ergonomics, the interior is now modelled on the S80 interior , offering a high level of standard equipment, which in turn can be enhanced with a great number of options as standard build or retro fitted. Engines are from the usual Volvo range of 1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 turbo diesel, alsong with the 304bhp T6 petrol which is available in geartronic AWD transmission mode. there are three gearbox options throughout the rest of the range, all 6 speed automatic, powershift or manual in operation. Shown to the right is the latest facelifted version as of 2013, which offers less CO2 with fuel economy gains in certain engine and geartronic combinations.
